What is the Bead Soup Blog Party® ?

Want to know more about this exciting, once a year event?

Detailed information is below, but the basic facts:

::  I pair you with another jewelry designer.  ::

::  You send each other a quality package of beads.  ::

::  You make one or more pieces of jewelry with those beads,
incorporating beads from your own stash as needed.
The focal and clasp you were sent MUST be used.  ::

::  You post your creation on your reveal day,
and you try to visit as many of the other designers' blogs. ::

Dates to remember for 2013:

This blog hops has gotten quite large in the past -- 400 people last time -- and it makes things so  much easier for me.  Thank you for your help!

The Details!

:: First, you must have a blog! ::
:: Second, no, you do NOT have to make your own beads! ::
:: Third, YES it is open to International beaders!  ::

I will be taking all who wish to participate. This can make a large blog hop, and not everyone will have the ability to visit all the blogs, but I will make a permanent link for each blog hop post so blogs can easily be visited throughout the year if desired.

(Exception: If you joined a previous party but never posted your creation,
or never sent beads to your partner, please do not sign up.)

What happens next?

When the sign ups close, I will email everyone with their partner
and list all the Party Blogs here and at www.BeadSoupBlogParty.com.

Once you get a partner, email them to learn a little about them.
Then you'll then send that person a Party Pack:

::  A focal  (pendant, large bead, etc) ::
::  Some coordinating spacers or beads  ::
 ::  A special clasp (not a lobster claw)  ::

PLEASE NOTE!

As you will see from past hops, some people will send an amount as shown below, which is PERFECTLY THE RIGHT SOUP SIZE, yet some will send a larger amount just because they want to.  That is OK -- but please do not feel you must send an entire bead store.

When sending the beads, you are not trying to match up with your partners current style.  Send them beads that are first quality, as if you were sending a gift to your best friend.

A good example of a soup to send.

You will use the focal and the clasp, and if you wish, some of the coordinating beads, incorporating beads from your own stash.  The idea is to help you think outside the box and work outside your normal comfort zone, pushing you into creative directions you may never have gone.

You only HAVE to use the focal and the clasp,
(although using some of the coordinating beads is encouraged).

When you get your package of beads, show your beads on your blog.  (Do not show your complete creation until your reveal date.)

Then you make something with the beads (or several pieces!), take a picture, and post it on your blog on the reveal day.  Everyone hops around to as many blogs as possible to see what people made.  You don't have to hop all on one day and you aren't obligated to visit all the blogs.  I don't want anyone to stress out over this!

:::   Make sure lori at lorianderson dot net   :::
is on your "safe list" in your spam folder
as I send out a  few emails to you
throughout the blog hop period.

Feel free to tell your friends!

  1. Hi Lori, nice blog and very interesting event. Knowing this bead soup party from Lilik Krist of Manik Jawa. Hoping to join the party, but I have not yet have a beads/jewelry blog (thou I do have a food blog), so maybe next year, after I have mastered learning, well, actually more like playing with, polymer clay.

  5. I joined this too late to get into this year's party but am looking forward to next year and especially looking forward to seeing what everyone creates. Can't wait until the reveal days! Super cool idea! I just started a blog today so I will be ready when the next one arrives.
